The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statements issued by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland PDF Imprimir E-mail

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statements issued
on January 27th 2018 by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada, Chrystia
Freeland, which attempt to disregard the legitimacy of the Venezuelan institutions.

Such statements are also a clear violation of the principles governing the
international rules, such as the respect for sovereignty, self-determination of the
peoples and non-interference in the internal affairs of the States.
The representative of the Canadian regime is only playing her role in the campaign
led by Washington to undermine the will of the Venezuelan People, and to escalate
the economic and financial blockage against our country. All of this with the aim of
resuming from abroad the political violence that it had already been overcome. In
this sense, the regime of Canada confirms the decision made in December 2017
by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela of expelling the Charge
d'Affaires of Canada in Caracas.

It seems ironic that after months of an intense campaign in which the Venezuelan
State was urged to convene early presidential elections, now the Canadian regime
rejects this course of action decreed by the plenipotentiary National Constituent
Assembly, a legitimate representative of the Venezuelan sovereign as repository of
the original power. Evidently, what Canada promoted was not the exercise of
voting as a democratic mechanism to settle differences between the Venezuelans
without any interference, but to strive towards a result that favored its political
allies, under illegal policies to overthrow the government through violent means.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates that the Venezuelan People is the
only one entitled to validate the functioning of its institutions and electoral
processes. It also reiterates that neither the People nor the Bolivarian Government
of Venezuela will yield before any kind of pressure, extortion, threat, blockage or
sanction, by any empire or subordinates, who seek to undermine the freedom,
independence and democracy achieved with great effort over the last two hundred
years.
